Michele Haynes is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and owner of Pacific Northwest Counseling. Michele holds a license to practice in the states of Idaho, California, Oregon & Washington.
Michele received a Master’s of Arts in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University.
Michele is passionate about working with couples and ending the cycle of repetitive conflicts and increasing effective communication. Michele utilizes Gottman Method Couple’s Therapy, The Couples Institute and attachment. Michele has completed level 3 of the Gottman Method Couple’s Therapy and Gottman’s “Treating Affairs and Trauma” workshop.
In addition to her work with couples, Michele utilizes EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and other trauma treatments (Certified Clinical Trauma Professional) with individual adults.

Benjamin Johnstun is a counseling intern at Pacific Northwest Counseling, practicing under the supervision of Michele Haynes, LMFT. Benjamin is pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Northwest Nazarene University and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Psychology from Brigham Young University-Idaho.
Benjamin is passionate about helping couples build stronger, more communicative relationships, drawing on his training in the Gottman Method. He has completed Level-2 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy. He is also dedicated to supporting individuals in finding purpose and meaning through a logotherapy-informed approach.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Benjamin offers a faith-based perspective for clients seeking to integrate Christian or LDS values into their counseling, while welcoming individuals from all backgrounds.
Kat Price is a Marriage and Family Therapy intern currently pursuing her Master’s degree in
Marriage and Family Therapy at National University. She holds an undergraduate degree in
Communication from Boise State University and practices under the supervision of Michele
Haynes, LMFT. Kat’s clinical interests include working with individuals, couples, families,
blended families, and college students navigating relationship challenges, communication
difficulties, anxiety, and life transitions.
Her approach is grounded in Solution-Focused Therapy and informed by evidence-based
models, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT),
and Gottman Method–informed interventions. Kat strives to create a collaborative, supportive
space where clients can identify strengths, clarify goals, and take practical steps toward
meaningful and sustainable change.

Jeffrey Shepherd is a counselor-in-training currently practicing under the supervision of Michele
Haynes, LMFT. He brings nearly five decades of lived experience, offering a real perspective on
long-term personal relationships, marriage, family dynamics, parenting, and the challenges that
arise across different seasons of life.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from Boise State University with an emphasis on business
leadership and has over 25 years of experience in corporate settings and leadership roles. This
background informs a practical, relational approach to counseling, particularly for clients facing
identity shifts, career strain, work-related stress, and major life transitions.
Jeffrey’s clinical approach is rooted in Person-Centered Therapy, emphasizing empathy,
authenticity, and unconditional positive regard. He strives to create a safe, collaborative, and
nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to explore their
experiences at their own pace. He has a particular interest in working with couples and is
continuing to develop his understanding of Gottman Method–informed approaches to support
healthy, resilient relationships.
Jeffrey’s purpose is focused on partnerships with people, as they work to clarify goals, strengthen
self-awareness, and develop the emotional insight needed to restore balance, deepen connection,
and create lasting change.
